28-10-06 - Birthday and first official publication!
October 20th was my birthday, I'm now officialy 18 years old.. sounds old, doens't it? But I've got some great other news too: This weekend my bookpresentation will be held in Enschede, the Netherlands. Reason: my first, new book "Aimée TV" is out from Uitgeverij BeeDee. The story is very simple: I find a job at a manga-TV channel and try to teach the beginners of manga all the fine details about this culture and comicstyle. The comicbook consists of gags, illustrations and a handy register with manga-terms. Be sure to buy it: from next week in every Dutch and Belgian bookstore or comicstore.

Here's the cover, click for a large preview!

I will sign the book this Saturday at Enschede, the Abunai manga convention.

06-10-06 - 24 Hour Comics Day
Aimee is competing with this years "24 Hour Comics Day". Worldwide comic artists and cartoonists draw 24 pages in 24 hours. No breaks, no sleep, but plenty of coffee. I will upload a new comic every hour on Saturday and Sunday at my special 24 Hour Comic website! And if you're in Amsterdam: the draw and scan location that the Dutch artists are using is Lambiek, Kerkstraat 132.

10-09-06 - Aimee wins prize
For competing in the Stripstrijd competition and making the weekly comic in the newspaper "Brabants Dagblad", Aimée has earned the so called "Young Person of the Year" award. The award is handed out every year to a person (younger than 18) who has done something special inside the city Waalwijk. This year, a few weeks before my 18th birthday, I won the prize. Woohoo!

06-05-06 - The battle has ended... no more Stripstrijd for me
The results are in, and altough I had more votes than my opponent Michiel van de Pol, I lost the competition Stripstrijd. The guys over at Parool liked his comic more because of several things. If you want to know the details about it, OR want to read all the comics, just go here. Thanks for all your votes! Because of those, the contest remained exciting till the last minute. I'll continue with other projects now, so no worries here.
Oh, and keep an eye on the news section, just in case something exciting might happen in the near future.... ;) har har har

20-04-06 - THE BATTLE HAS BEGUN! A note to all you readers...
From Saturday 22nd of April till Friday 5th of May I'll be in a contest called Stripstrijd with my comic "Osmond en Ik". It's a competition where new Dutch talents battle to win a daily comic in the Parool newspaper. On their website www.stripstrijd.nl I will publish the comic daily during these two weeks. It's a brand new comic that I've been working on the last few months! So be sure to read it anyway.

Now all I need is your VOTES to get me to the semi-finales. Click the link www.stripstrijd.nl, choose "Osmond en Ik" and click the red pencil. Done!
For the people that have already vote for me: thanks!

N.B. If you want to help me find even more votes, please put this banner on your website and link it to www.stripstrijd.nl!

Thanks a million, it's highly appreciated.

- Aimée

05-10-2005: Another NEWSFLASH! Review in Aniway magazine
In this month's Aniway magazine (#2), Léon van Hooydonk wrote a short review of my published comic Ai-chan TV. In the same section, the Apple book from Cheesecake! Studio is reviewed, and my contribution, the comic Stillborn, is praised in it. And that's not all, because I made a 4-panel comic in color for the issue. So.... don't miss it! It's in Dutch bookstores everywhere now, and you can always order it at their website www.aniway.nl
For me, well, it always feels so nice to help the mangaculture grow in the Netherlands.

comic, Stillborn review and Ai-chan TV review... buy buy buy!

01-09-2005: Land of the Dead movie
This new movie from George A. Romero is out now in Holland. It's about zombies taking over the world. As you can see, it has nothing to do with my project Land of the Dead... a project that I still have to finish one of these days. Pure coincidence, but still I wanted to mention it :)

01-09-2005:
NEWSFLASH! Published interview
and: daily turns into weekly
This month the Dutch Aniway magazine published an article with interviews of the winning artists of the Fanthology contest. I've won the 3rd price, and at the bottom of the second page in the magazine is a part of my interview. Go buy it! In Dutch bookstores now! Their website has the FULL article for free download, which contains a way bigger part of my interview. You can download it now at their site Aniway.nl, in 'Downloads'. Both the interviews are in Dutch.
The daily webcomic I started has turned into a weekly one, because I couldn't handle it. Maybe in a few years.. but for now I don't want to stress in such a hard year of school.

17-08-2005: New Dutch daily webcomic online

After a nice holiday in Italy I've decided to start a daily webcomic. It's in Dutch, because it's easier for me to think of comics that way. I'm going to upload a new daily comic everyday (except for the weekends), about all the things that have happened that day. Check it out!! the link is http://www.iamshotaro.com/daily.htm

14-06-2005: June stuff
I've been to another comic convention in the Netherlands recently, where I've made an agreement with www.senoeni.net to publish a new comic in september. Cheesecake! studio will also release their new books that month, so I'm really looking forward to it.
No new artwork yet, I'm busy working on the comics for Senoeni and Cheesecake, and I'm finishing the 4th form this week.. so don't expect anything the next two weeks... sorry ^^U

16-05-2005: May
It's been a while. Headlines: I've been hanging around the Webcomic-convention in Tilburg and the Animeconvention in Almelo (both in Holland) for signing my stuff and make some random drawings...as you can see on my new photo aimee5.jpg ^^U
Other big news is that I've won the third prize in the Fanthology contest ^^ And our first print of Cheesecake! totally sold out at the convention. Right now, I'm working on my new comic 'Stillborn', for the next books of our Cheesecake-circle. It's gonna be over 40 pages, and I only have a few weeks... So my apologies for not updating regularly, I'm just very busy! ^^U
